Rust Mobile Not Working? Check Whether You Mean Rust Mobile or Rust+

Updated 2026-10-20

People search for "Rust mobile" when they mean two different things. If you are trying to fix something, first check which app you have, because the fixes have nothing in common.

The two apps

Rust+ is Facepunch's free companion app for the PC game. You can't play Rust in it. It connects to a PC Rust server you play on and shows your team, the map, the server's status and events. It also lets you control smart switches and receive raid alarms. It is on the App Store and Google Play under the name Rust+, and it is what most "Rust app" problems are about.

Rust Mobile is a separate game: a version of Rust built for phones by a development partner and officially endorsed by Facepunch. Press coverage names the partner as Level Infinite, Tencent's games label. Nothing announced so far connects it to PC Rust servers, and Rust+ does not work with it. Its tests have been limited to certain regions and recent Android phones, and there is no full release date yet. Facepunch's Rust Mobile page has the current status.

Which one do you have?

  • You see a server list, a map and your teammates, but you can't move a character. That is Rust+.
  • You control a character and play on a phone. That is Rust Mobile.
  • You found the app by searching "Rust" in the store and it asks you to sign in with Steam. That is Rust+.

If it's Rust+

The usual problems and their fixes:

Two things trip up new users. First, Rust+ only works with PC servers: it does nothing for Rust Console Edition (console) or for Rust Mobile. Second, you have to pair from inside the game on your PC; the app can't find servers on its own.

If it's Rust Mobile

Nothing on this site applies. Rust Mobile is run separately from PC Rust and Rust+, so problems with logging in, connecting or device support go to its own channels: the Rust Mobile page linked above, its official social accounts, and the store listing in your region. If the game isn't available in your country or on your device, that is a limit of the test, not a fault you can fix.

Using Rust+ from a computer instead

If you meant "Rust+ but not on my phone", there are desktop apps and Discord bots that do the same job: Rust+ on PC and Rust Discord bots.
