Custom Raid Alerts and Notification Sounds in Rust+
Updated 2026-09-24
The single most requested Rust+ feature is a raid alarm that keeps ringing until you look at it. The app does not have one, and the reason matters: Rust+ delivers alerts as standard push notifications, and standard notifications play once, at the volume your phone allows, and stop. Everything you can do about it happens in the phone's settings or in a Discord bot, not in Rust+.
What you can customise in Rust+
- The alarm's name and message. Open the paired Smart Alarm in the app and edit its title and notification text. "FRONT DOOR" beats "Smart Alarm" at 3 a.m. Name every alarm by location.
- Which alerts you receive. In game, ESC → Rust+ shows per-server toggles for server pairing, device pairing, alarms, offline deaths, teammate logins and news. Turn off what you do not need so the ones that matter stand out.
- That is the whole list. Sound, repetition and priority are not in the app.
Android
Android gives Rust+ one or more notification channels, and each channel has its own sound and importance. Open Settings → Apps → Rust+ → Notifications. If the app exposes a separate channel for alarms, set that channel to the highest importance and give it a distinct, long sound. If there is only one channel, set that.
Then the settings that silently defeat alerts:
- Battery optimisation. Set Rust+ to Unrestricted (Samsung: not in the sleeping or deep-sleeping apps list; Xiaomi: no battery restrictions and Autostart on). Optimised apps receive pushes late or not at all.
- Do Not Disturb. Add Rust+ as an exception, or your night alarms are silent by design.
- Volume. Notification volume is separate from media and ring volume on most Android builds.
iOS
Settings → Notifications → Rust+: allow notifications, use Banners with Persistent style so they stay on screen, enable Sounds, and enable Show on Lock Screen. Then:
- Focus modes (including Sleep) silence everything not on the allowed list. Add Rust+ to your night Focus.
- Time Sensitive notifications break through Focus if the app marks them as such; if Rust+ offers the option under its notification settings, turn it on.
- Critical Alerts (the ones that bypass the mute switch) require special permission from Apple that the app does not have, so a muted iPhone stays quiet. Keep the switch off at night if you rely on alarms.
Making a raid alarm impossible to miss: use a bot
The reliable way to get a siren is to route the alert somewhere that can make noise on its own terms.
rustplusplus posts alarms to a Discord channel, can announce them in team chat, and its text-to-speech reads messages aloud in the Discord team-chat channel. Combine that with Discord's own per-channel notification settings on your phone (a dedicated alarm channel set to "all messages" with a loud custom sound) and you have a second, independent alert path. A Discord notification and a Rust+ notification arriving together is much harder to sleep through than either alone.
RustPlusBot goes further with a voice client that speaks alerts into a Discord voice channel; sit in the channel at night and the alert is audible without unlocking anything.
Smart Switch as a physical alarm is the in-game version: wire the same sensor that feeds your Smart Alarm to a Siren Light or a Boom Box inside your base. It will not reach you offline, but it does wake anyone who is online and AFK.
Reducing false alarms so you keep the real ones loud
A loud alarm that fires every time you walk in gets muted within a day. Set HBHF sensors to exclude authorised players, place laser detectors where only intruders cross, and remember the alarm's cooldown of roughly three minutes between notifications, which is what stops a single raid from flooding you. The honest limit
Even perfectly configured, a phone push can be delayed by the network or dropped by the OS. Treat Rust+ alarms as a strong hint, not a guarantee, and if being raided offline matters enough, add the Discord path so two systems have to fail at once.
